Music and Creative Movement
Music and movement are an essential part of everyday life at Mountain Ridge Academy.
They say that music is the universal language. Regardless of where you are from or what your background is, a good melody is something that everyone can enjoy and understand.
Here are some of the benefits of your child learning music:
- It will boost their brain power and improve their memory.
- It helps them socially, it is a great confidence builder.
- It teaches patience and discipline.
- It fosters creativity.
More and more studies show a correlation between higher academic achievement with children who are exposed to music. Our children will be singing their happy songs all over the valley - from Windermere to Invermere and beyond.
And then there's Creative Movement...
Creative movement is a powerful way to engage the senses, discover the connectedness of mind and body, and release endorphines which bring a positive mental space for learning. Focused stretching promotes physical strength as kids learn to use all of their muscles in new ways. It refines balance and coordination too. The act of practicing various poses encourages children to relax and focus on the effort. As a result of this single focus to achieve a particular pose or stay balanced, children learn how to focus and concentrate.
